Like the sound of beating drums
my heart palpitates just for you.
Let the hum of our moans crescendo
and add to the harmony of our souls.
Let the rhythm of our grinding hips
create a sound far more pleasurable
than the combining of luscious lips.
Our spirits connect through the swaying
of our bodies.
Watch our shadows under the candle light
dancing in sync on the ceiling,
And let us enjoy creating the forbidden
music of the night.

As you may know, “Music of the Night” is one of the ballads sung in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “The Phantom of the Opera.
Many years ago, my wife and I were privileged to be able to see the musical in Los Angeles when Michael Crawford was playing the Phantom. He has an absolutely fabulous voice and the experience was amazing, including the stage magic.
We’d never have been able to afford seeing it, but my sister-in-law and the man she eventually married (he’s really a great guy, by the way) had a fight and decided not to go to the performance. We got the tickets and an unforgettable experience.
I’d read the 19th century French novel (translated to English) by Gaston Leroux just prior to prepare myself for the musical and I can say the performance was very faithful to the book.

It’s funny that you mentioned that play. It’s one of my favorites and that’s where I got the title of my poem from. I absolutely love the 2004 movie version with Gerard Butler (i love him). It’s my all time favorite movie. I know all the songs. Lol. The play was here in Chicago last year, but I never got around to getting tickets.

If you ever have the chance again, you should go. I think you’d really enjoy it.

I believe I’d sing along to every song lol. I’ll definitely check it out when it’s back here next.
